Changing of the Guard

As we bid adieu (yeah, a trilingual blog! Choke on that!), with heavy hearts and heavier stomachs, to our well-seasoned recruit, we welcomed two new recruits. Trepeditisoulsy traveling from the colder climes of Western North Carolina, they arrived intact after internal reinforcement with Kentucky distillations and fermented fruit juice (depending on the singular needs of the individual recruit) carrying a precious cargo of flavored vinegar.

And they arrived on an auspicious date: Quema del Diablo - The Burning of the Devil. (Don't worry, no Expedition Members were harmed despite whatever reputation they may have back at home.)

Yes, an exceptionally horrible photo of said Diablo because it was crowded and we couldn't come close to getting near it. So look at these photos instead (obviously taken by much more competent humans). But these are some equally bad shots of the scene.

It even made the front page of the newspaper.
After, we met up with the South Africans and a Canadian couple and allowed the children to terrorize the patrons of several restaurants sharing a common courtyard.
